Saint-Ferréol's lake, at the sources of the Canal du Midi

Saint Ferréol’s dam is a reserve of water for the Canal du Midi. It helps to compensate for the temporal irregularity supplying the Canals’ water equipment and the hazards of the rainfall in the Black Mountain.

The lake is only 3 km from Revel. Here, you are indeed at the source of the canal du Midi!

Created in the 17th century, this 67 hectare lake is at the hearth of the exalting adventure of the construction of the canal du Midi. It is the major component of its water supply system: a complex and surprising system implemented by Pierre-Paul Riquet (1609-1680), a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The lake of Saint Ferréol is an idyllic place, perfect for bathing and lazing.

And if you want a cultural outing : 2 minutes walk from the lake, discover the "Musée et Jardins du canal du Midi"
