The village appeared in 1145 when Bernard (future St Bernard of Clairvaux) came to preach against heretics in Verfeil. It was the beginning of Catharism. The saint was driven out of the city, and took refuge in a nearby village, which took the name of Bourg Saint-Bernard.
To visit: Do not miss the church of the XV-XVIth century, financed with the money of the pastel, this dye plant which made, in the Renaissance, the wealth of the Lauragais. Inside, you will discover the statue of St Bernard, paintings by the painter Sieurac, and a 15th century pieta. The whole is very harmonious.

Then, go to the village, an old fort surrounded by ditches and ramparts of which unfortunately there are no remains. You will discover some pretty half-timbered houses.

Every Monday of Pentecost, Bourg Saint Bernard celebrates one of the oldest festivals in France: the Fadaise meadow festival. Equestrian demonstration, parade of floats, traditional ball, love grass collection. . . it's a total of 5 days of celebration!
